Vu N. Duong, Ph.D.
Professor, Nanyang Technological University – Singapore
Prof. Vu Duong is a world-recognized leader in aeronautics research, currently Professor of Aerospace Engineering and the Scientific Director of the Air Traffic Management Research Institute, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Under his leadership—as Director until 2025—the institute has emerged as a global leader in air traffic management research, thanks in large part to the scientific foundation he helped establish.
Before joining NTU in early 2017, Prof. Vu was the founding Director of John von Neumann Institute, the Centre of Excellence in Knowledge Science, Information Science, Systems Science, and Applied Mathematics of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). There, he spearheaded initiatives to foster university–industry collaborations, and championed innovation and start-up education across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Prior to his return to Vietnam in 2012, he served as Head of Innovative Research and Senior Scientific Advisor at EUROCONTROL, the European Agency for Air Navigation. He has also been Honorary Dean of the College of Engineering & Computer Science at VinUniversity and an Advisor to the Vietnam Minister of Planning and Investment on innovation strategy—most notably contributing to the development of the National Innovation Center.
Prof. Vu earned his Master of Engineering (1986) and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence (1990) from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France. In his free time, he enjoys triathlons and painting.
