Le Xuan Bach is a computer science expert with extensive experience in research and teaching. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Singapore Management University in 2018, focusing on automated software repair using machine learning, data mining, and program synthesis. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2012, under a collaboration program with Keio University, Japan.
He participated in a Ph.D. Residency Training at Carnegie Mellon University (2015–2016), focusing on automated software repair. After completing his Ph.D., he continued his research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, Silicon Valley (2018–2019), contributing to the ISSTAC project on software vulnerability detection and prevention.
Since 2019, he has been a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Australia, officially gaining tenure in September 2023. He was also awarded the prestigious Fellow of Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2022–2024), securing $488K in research funding for an automated software bug-fixing project, which had a competitive acceptance rate of just 20% across disciplines.
Beyond academia, he has mentored numerous students and contributed significantly to software development, cybersecurity, and automated bug fixing, aiming to enhance global software quality.
